Matt has been such a resource for us in the HPAP rpocess. He gives a thorough inspection and flags items that will likely trigger a negative response from HPAP. We can then use that for negotiating repairs with the seller. We actually used Matt twice. The first home we looked at he told us about half way through the inspection there was just too much wrong with it to ever receive the seal of approval from HPAP. We chose to continue the inspection for educational purposes and my client learned so much about a home and maintenance. We later looked at another home and she said right away, "Matt wouldn't approve this one, would he?" We appreciate his gentle and calm demeanor and his ability to explain the importance of certain things or the mechanics of them.

We were thoroughly impressed with Matt's work for a prospective house. We were looking too buy a home during a state of emergency stay-at-home order and therefore nervous about not being able to do a walk through with Matt. However Matt made it for this in every aspect but thoroughly answering all our questions before the inspection. Matt called us right after the inspection to give us a picture of his experience and his report was documented THOROUGHLY with pictures and written details of each issue. Where do I start with Matt, for one he was always on time. I would get there a few minutes before the inspection time, and Matt would already be there working the perimeter of the property. He was more of a teacher then an inspector. This is my first home, and Matt educated me on everything I had a question about (and I had a lot of questions). He also gave his opinion when asked about other items not related to the inspection (should I get a Nest or not...those questions). Even when we did the second inspection with the sell there, Matt made sure to point out those items that weren't up to par that had been flagged for repair. Great experience! I highly recommend Matthew Hix as a home inspector. Matthew performed an extensive inspection of our apartment (~3 hrs for a 1 BR apartment) and we were very pleased with the results. At the end of the inspection, Matthew provided us with a detailed report of what should be fixed. He also gave us an idea of how much we should expect to pay to fix the different problems in the house (plumbing, electricity, etc.). All in all, Matthew is very professional, efficient, reliable and knowledgeable. He patiently answered all our questions providing a lot of details (and we had a lot of questions since it was the first time that we were buying an apartment). Matthew was also very flexible. We had to act quickly and Matthew adjusted his schedule to perform our home inspection the next day (despite a huge snow storm). In addition, Matthew had to come twice since the roof where our HVAC was located was not accessible. Again, Matthew was very accommodating and completed the home inspection in a timely manner. We will definitely have Matthew perform the home inspection of our next house (if we ever buy another house!). We had a great experience and entirely trust him. Thanks Matthew!! Definitely made this stressful experience of buying an apartment more enjoyable!
