Joel spent considerable amount of time with my wife and I as part of the home inspection - taking time to explain how to operate our home. Joel conducted our home inspection earlier this month and our experience has been great. He went through every area of the house, along with every electrical and plumbing details. There's a saying that you should never take a recommendation for an inspector from a Realtor. The idea is that a "good inspector" will be disliked by a Realtor because he will always find reasons to kill a deal. In the case of Joel Mizrahi, he is a total stickler ? but my complete confidence in his integrity and competence is exactly why I DID go through with an expensive transaction on a hundred-year-old house. Joel had already saved me from a transaction that, in retrospect, would have been a complete disaster for my family. When he explained exactly what I'd be facing in terms of hiring a "stucco guy" and a "master woodwork guy" and "custom window guy," I began to understand the totality of what I was dealing with. I'm an experienced homeowner for more than 20 years, but because of its beauty and charm, I just wasn't properly assessing what a hassle this place would be. Joel didn't try to talk me out of the buy; he simply laid out in a logical way what I'd be dealing with. I winded up falling in love with a house that was much more suitable for my family's needs. And when it sailed through Joel's rigorous inspection process, I had total peace of mind because I had already seen how seriously Joel takes his duty. Joel is an outstanding inspector! As first-time home buyers with limited knowledge about homes, we were nervous and needed a lot of guidance. It was important for us to find an inspector who was both knowledgeable and truly unbiased. We found Joel through an organization called IHINA (Independent Home Inspectors of North America) whereby members pledge to be objective. This coupled with Joel's stellar online reviews from prior customers prompted us to call him and sign him up. From beginning to end, we were so glad to have Joel as our inspector! He was extremely thorough in his inspection of the property. He did a terrific job in balancing the tasks of carefully analyzing the property and communicating with us along the way. He also volunteered lots of information about maintaining various aspects of the property, which was extremely helpful. Joel even found an issue that hadn't been disclosed and this repair was worth several thousands of dollars. Further, as first-time home buyers without much knowledge, we weren't always sure how to discern the severity of the inevitable findings that come up; Joel was there to put it all in perspective, and that really put our minds at ease. Joel's report was meticulous and well-organized, and even after he sent us the report, he continued to be very patient with us, making himself available to answer all of our follow-up questions. He even told us to call him years down then line when we eventually need to upgrade the water heater because he has an idea for how to install it! We will tell anyone who needs an inspector to use Joel -- he's a terrific inspector and simply a pleasant person to work with!
