I have bought several houses over the years. The average inspection typically lasted two hours and I thought the inspectors did a thorough job. Or, at least that is what I was told. However, Shane proved me wrong! He spent over six hours going over the house from basement/crawlspace to the attic and everything in between and some underground. Shane looked at appliances, systems, drainage, and the landscaping that affected the structure. All along he provided his initial observations of everything and made recommendations for immediate and future solutions while remaining impartial and objective. His final written summary and report were also thorough. Throughout the process, Shane was friendly, personable, and professional. I would definitely use Shane again and would recommend him highly.

Shane's attention to detail was beyond our expectations! If you are buying a home in Bucks County, you can feel confident you will learn everything you need to know about your house if you have Shane inspect it. What was anticipated to be a 2+/- hour inspection turned into a 4+ hours inspection due to the depth of Shane's inspection (it was a small but troublesome little Cape Cod). Shane was extremely thorough, not only with his inspection but in explaining everything to us, the positives and the negatives, and making recommendations on a remedy as he went along. Wherever possible, he was lifting something up, looking behind something, under something, up something, or in something. Our report was 115 pages, complete with color photos, a full descriptions of the deficiencies, as well as a recommendations of professionals we may want to consultant prior to the expiration of our inspection deadline. The inspection was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and we certainly were not expecting the report prior to the holiday. Lo and behold, much to our delight, the report was delivered in less than 24 hours from the completion of the inspection. I would be remiss if I did not mention the quick response we received from Lauren, the other half of Terrapin Inspection. We weren't sure if we would be able to obtain the executed sale agreement, and with it being a holiday week and Shane's schedule being quite full, Lauren was gracious enough to put us on the schedule and hold a day open for us. I highly recommend Terrapin Inspection!

I selected Terrapin Inspections after reading positive reviews on yelp. The price for the service was comparable to some other local inspectors. When I met Shane at the property, he explained to me what the process was going to be, and encouraged me to follow him around as he performed the inspection. He told me to ask any questions as I thought of them. Throughout the inspection he pointed out things that were good and bad, and explained what should be done about the issues. He entered notes into an application on his phone and took numerous photos. I was impressed with how meticulous Shane was, and my realtor mentioned that Shane provided one of the most thorough home inspections he had ever seen. Less than 48 hours later I received a notification that my report was ready to view through HomeGauge, which is a platform that allows users to view full and summary reports and to create a "request list" to be sent to the seller of the home. The report was well organized into sections and thoroughly detailed the findings of the inspection, including relevant photos and comments on what meets "best practice" standards and codes. Shane was also helpful in suggesting a few professionals that could provide a second opinion (such as a structural engineer). I really could not be more impressed by the service that was provided. This is my first time going through this so it has all been a learning curve for me. I had quite a few questions and maybe badgered him about one or two things along the way, but I respect his opinion and he explained things in a blunt and easy to understand manner. If there was something wrong he pointed it out and told me why and if there was something that wasn't wrong, but could possibly be a problem in the future he brought it to my attention even though it's not something that would be used per say in the report. Did an excellent job on a detailed, comprehensive inspection with all the appropriate documentation required to take back to the seller. Shane also did a great job dealing with a highly difficult seller who argued with most of Shane's comments. My family chose Shane as our home inspector based on the positive online reviews he had received over the years. After attending his inspection and reading his inspection report, we believe that we made a good decision. Shane spent almost 3.5 hours inspecting our 4-bedroom colonial house that day, often walking up and down in quick steps. He meticulously examined everything, including the 2-story-high roof top, the difficult-to-crawl attic, and even the narrow space beneath the rear deck. His inspection report is thorough, detailed, and illustrated with an ample number of sharp color pictures. Besides, Shane is easy to work with and very knowledgeable in his field.
