.I have been doing home inspections since 2005. During an inspection we will look and check all the systems of the home. I encourage the buyer to follow me around, look over my shoulder and ask all the questions they may have as I love to teach the buyer about the house, even explain how to maintain the systems if they are not sure.
I am a member of MACASHI (Mid Atlantic Chapter of American Society of Home Inspectors), licensed in Maryland and Virginia and qualified to do inspections in DC and Pennsylvania.
Through MACASHI I continually attend seminars and training to stay up to date with all new and changing items found in homes.
During a full inspection I will date and test all appliances and utilities. Will inspect the foundation, structure, all exterior area that we have access to, test all plumbing and electrical items, open window and doors and check all things we can touch and see.
When we are finished I will provide a printed copy of the report on site that we will review together with the buyer and later will send a link with a user name and password so the buyer can access the report electronically. I encourage the buyer to contact me in the future if they have questions about anything they may have as they live in the home.
I also offer a "walk and talk" consultation for those who do not want or need a full inspection. This is usually for the person who has not yet submitted an offer but would like some information so they can decide if they want to submit one. This is as the name suggests. We walk through the home together and discuss what we see. I will date the appliances, HVAC system and other utilities. We will check the exterior and foundation/structure and walk through the home looking at the "big ticket items."

I have been doing home inspections since 2005, Prior to that I was a high school teacher. I encourage the buyer to take an active part with the inspection and ask any and all questions they may have as we go through the home.
